Digital photography is an exciting field. In fact, a lot of people are making it their hobbies while some are even turning professional even when they are not really entirely familiar about the field that they are getting into.

Before you take the plunge, you have to remember some things. You need to make sure that you know everything about the field before you invest your time and money into it as well as put your future at stake. If you are a college student thinking of dropping out in order to concentrate on photography, this is for you. 1. It does not pay well
Unless you are the photographer of several fashion magazines and have slowly created a name for yourself in fashion and couture photography or in other areas of the field, you will not be earning enough to feed a family. Like many artsy jobs, you will not become rich, not unless you become so lucky and enjoy overnight success. Otherwise, you have to contend yourself with the fact that you will have to struggle first and may even not be enjoy success for the rest of your life.

2. It needs expensive equipment.
Cameras can be very expensive. You will not only pay for one lens and body but as you progress in your hobby and career, you will need several other lenses that will help you with your career. If you are, for instance, going into fashion photography, you will need not only the ordinary lens but also the wide angle and telephoto lens. These lenses can be expensive especially when you buy them brand new. One way to solve this problem is to look for second-hand lens that you can use. There are many photographers that are selling their old lenses.

3. You need to take lessons
Just because you know something about photography does not mean that you don’t need the lessons anymore. If you are really keen with your photography hobby, take time to learn. You can either enroll in a short course or maybe buy a book that will give you tips on how to take photos. This will help you improve your skills and keep up with the changing times.
